Hello fellow members, alumni and friends of CBLSA,

As one of the most active groups on campus, Columbia's Black Law Students Association provides its members with a supportive community that works to address their professional and academic needs.  We also strive to instill greater awareness and commitment to the needs of the Black community at large.

Columbia BLSA’s 16th Annual Paul Robeson Conference will be taking place on Saturday April 17th from 9:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. at the law school.  This year’s conference is The Implication of Race In Different Spaces.  The conference will feature two panel discussions.  The first, “The Implication of Race in Civic Life: Voter Disenfranchisement,” will focus on the current assaults on voting rights which tend disproportionately affect African-Americans, including voter purges, burdensome photo I.D. and proof of citizenship requirements, and restrictions on voting after criminal convictions.  The second panel discussion, “Racial Profiling in Everyday Life,” will be an inter-disciplinary panel discussion about racial profiling and its implications in different settings, such as the workplace, educational institutions, and public spaces.

For the full schedule please follow the link to the Annual Conference to the left.
